Alpaca Fabric Collages
These collages are designed and sewn by fiber artist, Juliana C. Petty. Each piece has a name and is a one-of-a-kind, beginning with an idea and incorporating many different fabrics, colors, textures, motifs, and computer generated photographs. The piece comes alive as embroidery stitching and free-motion stitching is added in a variety of colors and different sorts of novelty threads. Magic takes place when the collage is thrown in the washing machine and then the dryer allowing the piece to shrink and pucker, the edges to ravel and the fibers to soften into a unified whole. Yet another step involves embellishing with small charms, beads, and trinkets.
Each piece is mounted on 16"x20" matboard and is available unframed for $65 or framed for $90. Custom pieces can also be designed and can become family heirlooms - contact Julie to discuss theme, colors, and/or special pictures you would like included.
