Alpaca Shearing
Marcus Whitman is a graduate of the Washington State University shearing school and apprenticed under Master Shearer Ann Kizer. His preferred shearing method employs the use of a specially designed rope and pulley system to carefully restrain the alpaca during shearing. The alpaca is brought to the ground gently and placed on its side for shearing. The legs are held in place by the ropes while a handler holds the head. Special care is taken with pregnant females. Alpacas may also be shorn standing if owner prefers. Owner may select shearing style (i.e, stovepiped legs, belly cut, etc.) Histogram sample, toenail trimming, topknot and tail shaping are included at no additional charge. Show fleeces, including the "Kizer Cut" also available. This method saves lots of time at the skirting table -- and helps win purple and blue ribbons, too! Endorsed by Marty McGee Bennett of CamelidDynamics. References available upon request. |
