Professional Shearing
We offer alpaca shearing services at our farm once a year. This service is provided by professional shearers from New Zealand with over 20 years of experience. We stretch our alpacas on the ground in ropes to minimize risk of clipper lacerations and minimize animal stress. We shear all of our animals this way including our pregnant females and have never had one problem. All of our clients are notified ahead of time when the date will be. If transportation is needed, please notify us ahead of time, and we will work with you. We provide the additional hands needed, holding pens, fiber bags, a scale for pre and post shearing animal weights, and plenty of food! This is a service provided to our clients, however, if anyone else nearby is in need of shearing, please contact us by March with a head count, and we will make arrangements. |
