Salt River's Bella Donna

Light Fawn, 30004656 , 1/2 Bolivian, 1/2 Peruvian

UPDATE: Check out Bella Donna in the winter edition of Spin-Off Magazine, which is arriving on magazine stands the week of November 29!

Bella was the first cria born on our farm and her blinding luster could be seen almost immediately! Now that she's grown, it's apparent that she has taken on all the good qualities of her sire and dam - great conformation, a cool, slick handle, and fine, pencil locks. Bella's fleece was showcased in the Summer 2008 edition of Spin-Off Magazine - one of the only times Spin-Off has ever run an article on Suri, and Bella's fleece is who they chose!

Bella has produced two beautiful males - one white, who was sold as a breeding male and did well in the show ring, one light fawn - we thought this guy would end up as a fiber male, but wow, his fleece is now gorgeous, so we are re-regisering him as a breeding male, and he will be shown in Fall, 2010. Both boys have extremely slick fiber and high luster. Both big and healthy! Bella jus

  SBS Solstice
    White, 1068887, Full Peruvian

UPDATE: Skin biopsy results are back on Solstice and we are quite pleased with what they show. He has good density, at 48.0 follicles/sq mm, but the real story on Solstice continues to be his fineness and handle. He has a S/P ratio of 9.6 to 1, a micron differential between secondaries and primaries of 6.4, and an average micron count at 6 years of age of 25.0 - all of these traits are superior and he does appear to be passing these on to his offspring, along with great luster.

Solstice is an outstanding combination of 2 outstanding parents--6P Accoyo Crown Royale (multi-award winning full accoyo import who is unrelated to any other accoyo lines in the U.S.) and 6P Nastaza, mother of Arizona Sage and SBS Buckeye (Arizona Sage was undefeated in the 2002/2003 show season with 7 Championships and SBS Buckeye took 8 1st place ribbons in the 2003/2004 show season!). Crown Royale's breedings are limited to only ten per year and only existing customers can purchase breedings. Tha

Heatwave has turned out to be a beautiful herdsire - just take a look at his 18 mos histogram results! His fiber just shimmers in the sunlight and he has that wonderful silky feel that all Suri breeders strive for. We just got his skin biopsy results back and they confirm that this guy will make a wonderful breeding male for someone - 53 follicles/sq mm, 7.4 micron spread between primaries and secondaries, 10.1/1.0 S/P ratio, and 4/4 ranking for glands.

Heatwave has wonderful genetics behind him with Belmonte and Crown Royale as maternal and paternal grandsires respectively. Both sire and dam have wonderful fiber stats and skin biopsy results, which have clearly been passed on to this fellow.

His great fiber and presence have not gone unnoticed in the show ring either. While the shows were small, the competition was quite good. At Northern IL, Heatwave came in 3rd behind a male of The Suri Place, and a male of Jim Barker's (a Crown Royale son) - the judge commented that the top three of us had Suris that were extremely similar in character, fleece, and conformation, and that all exhibited the ideal Suri phenotype. The second show - Topeka - we place 2nd ahead of Wilkins Livestock Co! Anytime you can place ahead of their breeding program, you know you have something quite nice!

We all have a lot of males, but only a handful are of breeding quality. Add this guy to your breeding stock and take your breeding program to a whole new level.

  Awards Received
2nd Place - 2010 Mid-America Alpaca Show - judge Jill MacLeod. Place behind Pine's Edge and ahead of Wilkins - great competition and Heatwave was in the hunt!

3rd Place - 2010 Northern IL Alpaca Extravaganza - judge David Barboza. Judge commented that Heatwave exhibited the ideal Suri characteristics.
