LydiaRose is 1/2 sister to LikaRose, Rosie's first cria. As was true of Lika, Lydie has exceptionally fine fiber with high frequency crimp, in addition to excellent density. Lika's 2006 Micron Test from Yocom-McColl was a random sampling of fiber with an AFD of 19.9, SD of 3.8, and a CV of 19.1. Lydie's will be done with her 2007 shearing, but my guess is that her numbers will be even better, because her sire is white rather than gray. (See Lydie's numbers below. I was right!) Lydie has perfect conformation, pronounced presence and is also extremely typey. Lydie has all it takes to be a Show Winner and then a Great Production Female. Lydie had her first cria on May 3rd, 2008. The cria is a beautiful LF female. Perhaps we'll name her "Little LydieRose" - she looks so much like her mother. Lydie had an unassisted birth and is proving to be a natural mother, just like her wonderful mother Rosie, and her awesome grandmother Sugar Rose who is now a great grandmother for the
POLARIS SIRES A ROSE-GREY FEMALE!!! She was born at Crown Point Alpacas to a female named Sweet Savannah owned by Barbara Swan of SwansDown Alpacas! CONGRATULATIONS POLARIS, SAVANNAH AND BARBARA!!!
POLARIS continues to prove that he is an ELITE HERDSIRE both in the show ring and with his "criations". At over 5 1/2 years of age, he has added a Blue Ribbon for his fleece to his awards from the 2007 AOBA National Fleece Show. How many herdsires do you know that are still being shown at 5 1/2 years of age? How many are winning? Polaris is! Polaris also received a Blue Ribbon at the 2007 NAAS and stood with his son Oliver in the first row for the Color Champion Class, with Oliver winning over 150+ other males. We are extremely proud of Polaris and the offspring he is producing. Out of 4 of his progeny that have shown, 2, Arlo & Oliver, became Color Champs their first time out: Arlo in 2006 and Oliver in 2007, both at the NAAS - a very large & extremely competitive show.
LEAH ROSE IS OUT OF OUR EXCEPTIONAL ROSE LINE SIRED BY OUR 3 X CHAMPION POLARIS, the Sire of Champions! What more do I need to say?
SLEEPING MONK FARM LEAH ROSE was the first cria born on our farm in 2008. Beginning the 2008 CRIA CLASS in GREAT STYLE, LEAH has a VERY BRIGHT, FINE, DENSE FLEECE WITH A WELL-DEFINED, CONSISTENT CRIMP STYLE. LEAH ROSE also has a very FEMININE APPEARANCE and a GREAT DISPOSITION - we would expect nothing less from our Rosie line! LEAH ROSE has developed exceptionally well. LEAH is a line-bred female doubling-up on the quality genetics of Avalon's Peruvian Aristocrat, her grandfather, a Royal Fawn son. LEAH'S maternal great grandmother, SUGAR ROSE, her grandmother LAUREL ROSE (ROSIE) and her mother LYDIA ROSE are all exceptional production females. We have no doubt that LEAH ROSE will continue this tradition. It runs in the family and adds to LEAH'S VALUE as a GREAT PRODUCTION FEMALE!
