| | | Peruvian Peggy is a legend as one of Mike Safely's original imports. She was personally selected by Mike at Northwest Alpacas and raised by Mike's son until we selected her in 2003. If you've read Mike's book Alpacas: Synthesis of a Miracle you've read references to her in there. Since then we have felt an obligation to keep this sweet sixteener on our farm in her retirement years. Still, at age 16 she is breeding strong. Oddly, her past production has heavily favored males. While that may sound discouraging several of the males have gone on to significant stud careers and are quite prolific and heavily favoring female cria - go figure. This year we are breeding her to our Studmaster MFI Peruvian Glacial Storm and frankly, it won't matter what gender we get. Odds are high that this little one will be quite the show stopper. | |
