Update: Valerie just had a female cria sired by our Principae and she is bred back to Ferrari's Excel.

If you are looking for an affordable production female, this is your girl. We bought Valerie in 2006 and she had a black male cria by her side and was bred to EL Trauco. The male cria had great fleece, but not good enough to be a stud on our farm, so we felt pretty good about the cria she was pregnant with. When the cria did arrive, it was a wonderful little girl that we ended up naming Chula, because she was, and still is, beautiful and now a champion. Valerie had another cria for us this year, this time a brown male with great style and conformation.

Valerie has a strong conformation and a lot of presence. Every cria of hers we have seen has had above average fleece, and we think Chula has an advanced fleece. However, her fleece looks like she is a seven year old production female right now.

The only reason we are selling Valerie is because when she is bred, you know it, if you know what I mean. When she is open, she is a joy to work with, but you won’t really need ultra-sound or a progesterone test either to tell she is pregnant; you’ll know.
