OK, we were not planning to buy anything at the Snowmass Auction....really. But we could not resist this girl. She has produced Futurity Blue ribbon winners and champions...all in True Black. She passes on fineness, brightness, low scale, and silky highly crimped locklets to all of her cria. This type of fleece is so essential to black fiber.
She herself has a beautiful staple length and is absolutely drop dead gorgeous! Her genetics are outstanding...going back to the one and only Peruvian Accoyo Pluro. Pluro has produced outstanding crias in a range of colors. His bloodline is rare because he is no longer in the US.
We bred her to our premier guy Snowmass Royal Flush and got a beautiful solid True Black female! For her next breeding, we took her to...our Get of Sire champion Snowmass Nova's Gold which should produce a cria similar to her her 1st place Futurity daughter and Blue ribbon winning son, Snowmass Nova's Pluro (see him in our herdsire and sale listi
His daughter just took Black Reserve Color Champion in her 1st show! His colored crias are some of the best we've produced. When you breed him to grey; you get grey! Snowmass describes him and his full brother as "our 2 most influential fine fiber production studs". We feel so fortunate to have been able to obtain him; thank you Skinner family! We were looking for unique lineage and ultimate top quality. He is sire to Snowmass Silver Signature, (featured on page 11 of Making of Champions II), whose breedings are sold out. Royal Flush has been on Snowmass Alpacas Private Reserve herdsire list until now. His production is phenomenal. Snowmass thinks so highly of this male that they reserved future breedings to him.
They value his genetics and have repeated the breeding of his sire and dam 3 times. Royal Bronze is full brother to Royal Flush "both these studs represent our finest producing line of Grey Black and Brown. Royal Flush is strong boned, has supreme fineness, am
If you are a breeder of top quality blacks or if you want to jump start a black breeding program, Queen is your girl. The competition gets tougher every year and Queen is a girl that can move your program forward. We were just so excited about this beautiful solid true black daughter of the phenomenal herdsire Snowmass Royal Flush.
Not only is she full of dark color genetics on both sides, she has the fleece quality of a much lighter alpaca. She is very dense. In fact, her density is more similar to what you would find on a white, not a black. She is quite consistent in her fleece architecture and has a lovely crimp style that is consistent from skin to tip and front to back. She's feels very fine and given her genetics, we are counting on them to keep her that way! It's these qualities that gave her a Reserve Championship in her very first show as a juvenile.
Her sire is the super fine producer Snowmass Royal Flush. He is a Full Peruvian dark rose grey who Snowmass considered to be one of their top fine fiber production males before he left their program and came to Texas. At five years old his dark fleece was still in the 23 micron range!
Snowmass has tested his full brother and found that he is 100% pure alpaca with no genetic markers for llama. Less than 10% in the world are 100% alpaca and that would also mean that Royal Flush is pure as well.
Queen's aunt, Snowmass Amber Gold which is her sire's half sister, sold at the 2009 Futurity for $43,500.
Queen comes bred to Snowmass Porteus, due in November 2010.
Awards Received 1st and Reserve Color Champion Black Halter in her very first show! 2008 AAA judge Amanda VandenBosch loved her staple length and extremely consistent fleece architecture. Also, her density helped place her at the top.
