Accoyo Thai Orchid is out of Accoyo Tayamamba, a foundation female for Accoyos of America whose import record boasts a + for crimp lock, leg, body and head and a ++ for density and the infamous Accoyo Zen Do. Zen Do is out of Don Julio Barreda's Select B-line herd which was raised specifically for fine and uniform fleeces. Zen Do's fiber stats are very impressive: 18.8 AFD, 2.5 SD, 13.4 CV and 0%>30! He won the coveted Judge's Choice Fleece Award at the Y2K Fleece Show. Thai Orchid is the result of the fusion of these two superior alpacas' genetics.
Accoyo Thai Orchid was originally purchased from Accoyos of America at the Parade of Champions sale in 2003. Greg Mecklem described her as, "an extremely uniform, crimpy daughter of a select line Accoyo herdsire, Zen Do, and Tayabamba, mother of the famous Bolivar. She combines correct upright conformation with a high quality Accoyo fleece".
Thai has also proven she can reproduce her elite fleece and nearly flawles
Accoyo El Nino
White, 804965, Peruvian
Recently deceased full Accoyo Caligula son. El Nino was described by a prominent judge as "the perfect alpaca". El Nino is the son of Accoyo Caligula, All American Alpaca Futurity Herdsire of the Year & AOBA Get of Sire winner. Of perfect "alpaca type", El nino is conformationally perfect, with good bone and dramatic coverage. His fleece is extraordinarily dense & lustrous with crimp and character clear to his belly.
With Zen Do as a maternal grandsire and Caligula as a paternal grandsire, you can just imagine the quality and the amount of fleece on this full Accoyo beauty. She has the typical Accoyo look, the typical Accoyo feel, and all of the best genetics Accoyo has to offer. She has received the best from both grandparents - From Zen Do - the softness and fineness that Julio Barreda was breeding his Select herd for and from Caligula - the density, crimp and structure that he bred his Plantel herd for.
Thai Rose's sire is Accoyo El Nino. Considered by many to be the essence of a full Accoyo herdsire, he is the son of Peruvian Accoyo Caligula, All American Futurity Herdsire of the Year and AOBA Get of Sire winner, and Peruvian Accoyo Sunipani, two time winner of the AOBA fleece show and Judge's Choice. With the recent passing in 2008 of El Nino, Thai Rose's genetics have become unable to be duplicated.
Thai Orchid, Thai Rose's dam is out of Accoyo Zen Do, known for his remarkable fineness. At one year of age, Zen Do had 0.0 fibers over 30 microns. Zen Do is out of Julio Bareda's rare select B line. Thai Rose, like her dam and grandsire has an incredibly soft handle and a buttery feel.
Thai Rose delivered her first cria here on our farm this past summer. He is AMAZING. He is out of Invasion and we named him Accoyo Vanguard. The other day when I was out hanging with the cria, I was noticing how remarkable his coverage was. He was laying down, legs outstretched, and he had crimp even on the fleece on his toes! He's gorgeous!
Thai Rose came up open on her 60 day ultrasound. It was disappointing, but it was too late by our standards to breed her again. We'll wait until the spring.
