CPeruvian Gracella

Medium Fawn, 806446, Full Peruvian

Gracella is a large medium female of unknown parentage as she is an import from Peru. Several of her offspring has been ribbon winners and she is currently (6/10/06) being bred to Rancho Encantado's Denali.

  Rancho Encantado's Denali
    Light Fawn, 822798, Full Peruvian

The day Denali was born we could see he was very special. He stood quickly and proudly in the first 10 min. His dam CPeruvian Delores had already produced several first place winners. His sire is the famous Get of Sire Champion Royal Fawn who sold for $600K in 2005.

Ring judge Mike Safely commented on his beautiful head and earset, his movement and his outstanding dense, crimpy fleece.

Most important is his genotype. He has very strong genes and throws offspring with outstanding dense, crimpy fleece and fine hand. Already, his offspring have begun to win ribbons. So far, he has improved every female to which he has been bred.

This is another male that we are very excited about. Gabriel is a full Peruvian male that is a Royal Fawn grandson. Gabriel was sired by Rancho Encantado’s Denali who was a blue ribbon winner at the national fleece show as well as a Reserve champion at OABA.

As I was researching this male I looked at all the import records they are as follow:

Paternal Grandsire: PPPeruvian Royal Fawn 20.5 Microns, Excellent rating, Accoyo
Paternal Granddam: CPeruvian Dolores 16.7 Microns, Excellent rating, Alianza
Dam: Cperuvian Gracella 17.7 Microns, Good rating, Putina

When the Royal Fawn is the coarsest animal in your animal’s pedigree you know you have something special. When Gabriel’s fleece was tested at one year of age it was 15.5 Microns.

In addition to being so fine, Gabriel displays great density and staple length. When you open his fleece, it opens clean and in small bundles, an indication of both follicle uniformity and density. When you look closer at the bundles you see a high frequency crimp, which has a high correlation to fineness, and a bold crimp which is an indictor of a high fiber growth rate.

If conformation is important to you, you should see this guy set up. He is square and has great proportions. He carries his head high and has an enormous amount of presence. He even has a great bite! When we look to purchase males we concentrate on what is wrong with them, because if you are not careful you can be blinded with one or two great traits and miss something really important. When we were looking at this guy we had a real difficult time finding something wrong. When we find a male like this we buy him and that is what we did.

Update: Gabriel's Cria, Costalotas Desert Rose, takes the Grey CC at Shepherds Harvest 2010
