Miss Martina could have been named Miss Congeniality! She started as a small cria and sure took her time growing. But she is the first to say hello to everyone! And her fleece has very nice crimp. She was held back from breeding to give her time to mature and grow more. Pregnancy has barely changed her disposition with the only exception being that now manages to spit during health checks!

Martina gave birth to her first cria in June of 2009. It was a difficult birth for her--head and toes appeared and then the contractions stopped. Human mom and dad helped out and a stunning vincuna colored fawn male was born. Vet says future births should be no problem. Martina is a good mom who gives her son room to be by himself when he wants, but is ready to be Mom and the milk bar when her son wants her.
She is now bred to Hobby Horse Peruvian Whirlaway for a spring 2010 cria.

Whirlaway is a handsome light brown son of 6X Champion CPeruvian Winchester. Whirlaway has excellent conformation and bite. His fleece has a soft handle while having fineness, crimp, and density. His 2006 micron count was 21.8. He has a nice square conformation, and his head has the "Winchester look"!
We purchased Whirlaway from Hobby Horse Farm and we have high expectations for him. His density combined with the fineness of his fleece will compliment our females' fleece. And hopefully add a little more color to our herd. He has begun his breeding career and we already have several of his crias due in the spring of 2010.
