GRAZING HILLS Olivia

Dark Silver Grey, 1193596, 3/8 Chilean, 5/8 Peruvian

Olivia is producing! We knew we took a chance breeding Olivia to our white herdsire, Accoyo America Diomedes, but we really wanted to see the fiber that might be possible. And yes, it is gorgeous. God blessed us with a beautiful fawn female cria, Diomedes Darling, in 2008. The second time around we bred Olivia to El Campeon of Sweet Pines Alpacas for a 2009 cria, adding new bloodlines to our herd. It resulted in another stunning female, albeit a white one. We are confident she could be in the show ring as colored; we are waiting to see if she can compete in the white category.

Olivia is dense with a silky style crimp, very uniform; no doubt great grandsires Bueno and Legacy helped pave the way for Olivia's superb fiber quality. Like her sire and dam, she has coverage down past the toes. Stunning conformation and a truly remarkable head also contribute to making Olivia a lovely alpaca.

Olivia's dam and sire were never shown, but they should have been. We showed her fi

  El Campeon
    Medium Fawn, 1199093, 1/8 Chilean, 7/8 Peruvian

El Campeon (Champ) has a luscious medium to dark fawn AWARD-WINNING FLEECE that you can't keep your hands off and a head & coverage you can't keep your eyes off. The first thing you notice about Champ besides his gentle yet confident demeanor is his FULL COVERAGE from head to toe. At further inspection, his SOFT HANDLE, DENSITY, AND UNIFORM CRIMP abound throughout his fleece. And the judges agree. Among Champ's many fleece awards includes a FIRST PLACE at the AFCNA Continental Fleece Show in 2008; judge's comments were that he was "the Clear Winner with very much the higher score, very good staple length, definition and character...good uniformity overall, and a very heavy cutting fleece." In 2007, we sheared an amazing 10 pounds of fiber from Champ, which he topped with 13 POUNDS in 2008. He is also well conformed with an excellent bite, and settled his first female on our ranch at just a month after turning 2 years old.

Champ's dam, Tasha Yar, has maintained an ex

This young female represents superb foundation stock. Whitney has a lovely frame and posture as well as fine, crimpy fleece...14.9 micron with 3.3 SD on her first shearing!!! Though her micron went up in her second year, she maintained the a 3.4 SD giving her a CV of 16.9...yep, she has an amazing handle. And still only 0.7% of fibers over 30! She grows a long staple and shears a lot of fleece; the yarn made from her fiber is unbelievably bright and beautiful.

Whitney delivered her first cria (July 2012) at 354 days gestation which seemed to go on forever. She delivered on her own, stood for the cria to nurse immediately and has been a fabulous mom. The resultant male from Aspen Ridge Augusto's Cochiti has been blessed with Whitney's lovely fiber characteristics...he is super bright and dense with a lovely crimp. He also has the corner on cute with tons of coverage on his small, square frame. We named him The Cavalier Man, and we think we may show him this spring.

Whitney has a wonderful personality, is funloving and easygoing, and she should be bred again to produce more of that wonderful fleece!
