| | | We bought Jet Stream when he was just a weanling. We recognized that his dense, lustrous, independently locked fleece, well covered legs and face and large frame were superior to any alpaca we had seen, including our other champions. He began settling females at just 27 months old. We were even more impressed with Jet Stream after he was sheared and we saw his impressive regrowth. From the beginning we felt like he was extremely dense and our thoughts were confirmed by a follicle test which showed he has an average of 63.5 follicles per square mm of skin and a secondary to primary (s/p) ratio of 10.6 to 1. Follicle testing is relatively new but the average density considered good is around 35-40 sq mm and the average s/p ratio is 6/7 to 1.
Proof is now on the ground! Jet Stream's first 8 cria are on the ground and they are consistently outstanding. He has dramatically improved the fleece of every dam he has been bred to. His crias ALL have a greasy feel to their fleece | |
