B496 Coleen IMPORTU98

White, 805427, Full Bolivian

Coleen has passed on, but she left eight ARI registered crias behind. All of them, it is interesting to note, were sired by Alianza males" four by Guellermo, and one each by Hektor, Handsome, Bravado, and Mister Maverick.

Her daughters, Hibernia and Clare, have gone on to produce crias of their own here in the Sixth Day herd.

Imported into Canada from Bolivia, Coleen was a big but graceful alpaca. It's good to know that her heritage lives on.

According to Jude Anderson, Mister Maverick looked just like his legendary Alianza sire, PERUVIAN DON JULIO. From outstanding lineage, he has the traits you expect: eye-catching presence, flawless conformation and a perfect bite, dense fine fleece, extravagant coverage, heavy bone - and no 'hairy' look from coarse guard hair, not even in the 'apron'!

In the '06 Making of Champions sale catalog, Julie Skinner of Snowmass Alpacas states that she traded two imported full Accoyo studs to obtain PERUVIAN DON JULIO, "...he was that good!". Listed as 'Cantexto' in import records, he recieved a 'superior' rating. Exported to Australia in 1997, there are no more DON JULIO progeny being born in the US.

According to his owners, Jude Anderson & Alan Cousill of Pucara Alpaca Stud in Australia, "Rodger and Clyde Haldane chose DON JULIO in Peru along with the famous US stud male PER

Sixth Day's Celtic Miss

I cringe every time one of these good animals goes up here so cheap. But, half the herd must go, and just about everything is for sale. When the herd numbers are reduced and the cash flow objectives are reached, the prices will go back up!

Julie Skinner of Snowmass Alpacas would describe Celtic Miss' fleece as 'silky'. It's bright with low curvature.

What catches my eye about this girl - in addition to her attractive type - is the low mircon of the strongest (biggest) fibers in her fleece: just 54 microns. Look closely at a lot of histograms and you will notice that a lot of alpacas have fiber half again, or even double that micron.

Come and go over the herd yourself soon, for the best selection. And don't be afraid to make an offer!

Sixth Day Farm proudly co-owns Celtic Miss with Kinney Valley Alpacas.
