Cocoa was a kisser, and sadly died from a neurological infection. Silhouette was her last baby.
We were in the Bellagio in Las Vegas when the call came that Cocoa had been born (She watched us drive away, so she figured it was the right time). I'm sure the our reaction to the phone call must have provoked curiosity among the people passing by. She lived up to her auspicious beginning by winning a blue ribbon, and by being a great mother. Her grandmother was Finesse, mother of Don Lucilio. We miss her. | |

The call came while we were at the AOBA National Show. When our helper went out for evening chores, she was shocked to find a totally dry, black cria running through the pasture. She weighed 18.6, with an IGG well over 2000.
We thought we had a bay black, but when she was sheared we discovered that she actually is a true black. She has developed into the sweetest alpaca on the farm. She gives kisses and is always accepts a pet. If you are considering "black", she is a perfect package.
She showed at the Springfield, IL Riverside Alpaca Show, and got a third place instead of higher because her fleece was not long enough. The alpacas placed over her were from MN and WI, and did not have the hot summer we did.
Silouette, her mom, Cocoa, and Cocoa's new baby, Zoe, will be moving to her new owner, Elizabeth Grant's Bed and Breakfast in Bedford, IN, this month.
They will be joined by Uncle Alexandros, and herdsire Demetrius, too.
