My Tanglewood Ebony is a true black with great conformation and presence. Both dam and grand dam are true blacks. Sire, LB Copper Moon, is a 5Peruvian Camelot son and a grandson of Peruvian Gold Rush. Ebony, has her mother's bone, structure and straight legs . She is easy to lead and has no problems getting bred and/or delivering her crias. NEWSFLASH; After two days short of a year, Ebony finally unpacked her 2011 cria April 16, 2011. It is a lovely solid brown(at least we think so right now) male who arrived at 1:55 pm, stood up ten minutes later and was nursing by the time he was a half hour of age. He is covered with curly bronze fiber from head to toe(even on the cheeks) and was leaping around in the barn by three pm. His proud daddy is our rose grey male, Jazarah's Rajah. This is Rajah's first cria and we are delighted with this production. He may turn out to be a modern rose grey or even a maroon--it is too early to tell at this point, so we will wait with
Medium Rose Grey, 30581142, 1/2 Chilean, 1/2 Peruvian
Rose gray with lots of true black/rose gray/gray in the background. BVD free. He has a regal stance, is exceptionally easy to handle and is available for drive by breedings. Rajah placed third at the Arkansas Adventure Show in Hot Springs, and second at Ohio's Alpaca Fest. We feel sure that he will pass his wonderful temperament on to his crias. His first cria hit the ground on April 16th, was born unassisted, stood in ten minuts and nursed within the hour. He weighed in at 20 lbs and appears to be a dark brown, but may be a modern rose grey or a maroon. We will wait with his ARI registration until after shearing next month when we can better determine his color.
My Tanglewood Dot.Com is a very strong male whose color is a stunning coppery brown with black tips on the ears, his nose and his feet. His sire is Jazara's Rajah, a medium rose grey with several ribbons to his name, including a second at the prestigious Ohio Alpaca Fest in 2008. The dam, My Tanglewood Ebony, is a proven girl, and this is her second cria.
Dot Com was born on day 363 and the delivery was normal and uncomplicated. He stood after ten minutes, was nursing within the hour, and nibbling on hay and grain at only 7 days of age. Having gained six pounds during his first week he is now a solid young male with great conformation and a very promising fleece. We consider him to be of junior herdsire quality. At herd health day in mid January, I took another close look at him, and his fiber looks even better than the last time I looked at it.
Awards Received Ribbon at Alpaca Fest and blue ribbon at the NAILE show in 2011.
