UPDATE: Producing TRUE BLACK crias...even from brown dams!
True black from two true black parents, Jag carries color genetics deep with black and grey. In addition to the rich black color, his fiber has wonderful hand and architecture...a fabulous combination!
Unfortunately, Jag's previous owners did not show him as a juvenile. Tucked away in a back pasture of a large farm, Jag went unnoticed. Well, that changed! Once we purchased Jag, we were eager to get him into the showring. He "came home" in early March 2007 and, as a yearling, had his first experience with a halter and lead. Only days later he
This Is ONE VERY IMPRESSIVE MALE! He has a DYNAMIC genetic background! His dam's sire is the ever-impressive CPeruvian Winchester, who has now sadly left this world. Winchester's kids have won at least 80 Championships from 76 offspring. Winning Get of Sire with groups of Fawns and Browns over white and light is pretty special - something that Winchester specialized in!
Winchester is the record setting 6X Champion medium fawn herdsire. Winchester has been judged 'best of the best' by world renown judges: Maggie Krieger, Mike Safely, Julio Sumar, Kristin Burhman, Lavona Fercho, Karen Dewhirst, Susan Tellez, Carol Hicks, and Terry Bailes. "This male is what we should all be breeding for-fleece, conformation, and type" has been stated by these judges!
Titus' dam's mother is PPPeruvian Sonoma, who was a cornerstone in the foundation stock at Avalon Farm Alpacas. She was part of the 1995 importation from Peru, originating from the Sollocoto Region. The first cria she produced for us was Aristocrat, Avalon's premier fawn herdsire by Accoyo Royal Fawn.
She has been an excellent mom with abundant milk, producing crias that have had very strong growth patterns. Sonoma is considered to be one of Avalon Farm's very best foundation alpacas.
Titus' Sire - Our Peruvian Black Jag Jag came into his own at the 2007 Great Midwest Alpaca Festival where he was chosen as the 1st Place True Black 2 Year & Older Male. Judge Jude Anderson then selected him as the Black Color Champion, noting that his fleece was the "finest with good crimp, and lock, even from skin to tip, well covered, conformationally sound with great style"!
True black from two true black parents, Jag carries color genetics deep with black and grey. In addition to the rich black color, his fiber has wonderful hand and architecture...a fabulous combination!
As you can see.....Titus has received the Best of the Best genetics
