ScF Chewbacca is a stunning Dark Fawn male and his show record backs that up. His Dam hails from the legendary Hemingway line and his Sire is the son of Peruvian Accoyo Leon... and look what these genes have done here! Chewy's fleece has incredible locking staples, is extremely fine (2004 Micron of 15.4 and a Comfort Factor of 100%!!!), has incredible luster and remarkable density for a fleece this fine. He has a gorgeous, typey huacaya head, stove-pipe legs and a great presence.
To find these very low micron fibers in such a dense fleece is exceptional. Chewbacca shows the strength of color genetics coupled with the desirable coverage and density which wins in the ring and adds the improvement factor so needed today. We were delighted to purchase this lovely female at the Midwest Select Alpaca Auction in 2011. Star Dust's calm manner, proud carriage, and excellent conformation caught our attention. But, it was her lovely, white fiber that convinced us to bring her home!
Little did we know at the time just how fabulous a deal we were getting! On June 27, 2011, StarDust presented us with a white female cria! No one knew she was pregnant! And, even though she must have been accidently bred at a young age, she delivered her cria easily and has been an excellent mother. Even so, we decided to give her a little "time off" to take care of her cria and finish growing herself before rebreeding her.
Since Star Dust does have a small brown spot tucked into her beautiful white fiber, we are looking for the "right" dark colored male for her 2012 breeding. We plan to rebreed her in the spring.
