| | | Thanks to Jenn Apostoli of Pacific Sun Alpacas for allowing us to purchase this special female huacaya. Eliza is the answer to our search for some of the unique genes passed on by the famous Canadian herdsire, LGG Lional.
Lional's sire is the well-known Accoyo Peruvian Bueno. Lional is an exceptional alpaca, well proportioned with fiber coverage from cheeks to toes. He is famous for his correct conformation, solid bone, color, density, and fleece with good fleece character. A track record of offspring that are class champions and show champions complete his resume. Shortly after our purchase of Eliza, she proved her unique genotype by producing a whopping female cria carrying a gene for black, sporting a silvery gray face, and a coverage of exquisite fleece.

| | | Bo is the superlative herdsire we've been waiting on, with all our requirements wrapped into one--great conformation, super fiber, laid-back personality, and an outstanding pedigree. Add to that his wonderful appaloosa spots found scattered from head to toe, and we've got a winner. Oh!!!! If he were just ready to breed! But he's worth the wait.
Summer '09 update: The ultrasound confirms we have six Bo crias on the way, due in the spring of 2010.
Bo's dam, Calliope, is from the best-known U.S. herd for producing premier appaloosas--Dewey Meadows. And Calliope just may very well be the best they've ever had. It was a smart move when Becca Black, Queen B Alpacas, purchased Calliope, a first step in creating Bo. Check out Calliope's photos to see the quintessential huacaya, dressed in appaloosa spots.
The next step in the creation of Bo was the selection of his sire, the world-renown Accoyo, Ppperuvian El Moustachio.

This little girl is a long-awaited treasure. When Ed retired, he received Eliza-Jane as a retirement present. When Joanie retired, she received Bo as a retirement present. Then, we had to wait for Bo to figure out the proper method for breeding, and then there was the wait for a little female. After years of waiting, here she is!
She is dense and crimpy, and covered with fiber from head to toe. Check out those hairy ears. But, best of all, she is BEEEE-U-TEE-Full!
