| | | Solara (pronounced "Sew-LAH-Ruh") is owned by Pat and Bud Overmyer of Rustic Acres Alpaca Farm in Ohio. She is another exclusive offering by Close-Knit Alpacas via The Secret Meadow. You may purchase her individually OR in an outstanding package at an "unspeakable" price only obtained within the private purchasing environment where new beginnings are born!
Solara has one of the most beautiful colorings you'll find! She's golden....truly, and in many ways.
Solara has, from what the Overmyers tell us, been the "best of our production herd."
As with most all alpaca females, one of the primary things we want to know about them is what's their production record and how are they health-wise and more in that department? Well, Solara passes that part of the exam with flying colors! " She loves to be pregnant and can be in 5 minutes," exclaims Pat. "Solara has never had a birthing problem, either, and has been a good mom with plenty of milk." | |

Naya (pronounced "Nigh-uh") is owned by Pat and Bud Overmyer of Rustic Acres Alpaca Farm in Ohio. She is another exclusive offering by Close-Knit Alpacas via The Secret Meadow. You may purchase her individually OR in an outstanding package at an "unspeakable" price only obtained within the private purchasing environment where new beginnings are born!
Naya is a striking, bright and colorful daughter of the true black stud, Sinja. Sinja is not only a "double black" son of 6Peruvian 007, he's also the paternal grandson of 4Peruvian Midnight Express!
Naya's dam's side of her "tree" includes a long line of grey genetics of Chilean heritage. Naya's maternal great grandsire is J.D.'s Remington, and he is a medium silver grey stud out of a true black dam and sired by yet another medium silver grey (J.D.'s El Cid). The fawns in Naya's dam's lines are wonderful transmitters of the grey, so you're looking at some pretty solid, reliable grey genetics here.
Naya's conformation is quite solid and she has a straight top line and legs, though she is, as Bud says, "a large boned alpaca who has put on too much weight." LOL! Well, this happens to the best of us and fluctuates, so I wouldn't say it's something to be worried about. Her most current pictures show she's at a good weight and body condition.
I asked Pat what they could tell me about Naya in the breeding and production department and she revealed, "Naya didn't have enough milk for first cria, but she's a good mom." This is also not atypical for first time moms (lower initial milk supply). This is why feeding Dr. Pollard's herbal remedy is a good idea for maiden moms-to-be about 3 weeks prior to delivery. According to Naya's history, she allows the service sire's traits to come shining through in her cria...
Naya has a lovely fleece. Pat says it's "very fine, and there is black under her mahogany fiber. She has very soft fiber."
