Out of the toughest screening program for importations in 1998, Octavia has produced eight (8) crias for us and her 2006 son, Emperor Octavian, out of MFI Brock was the first male, followed by 2 daughters and then Orlando, a black male in 2009. Her daughters are excellent producers and her progeny have amassed many show ribbons.
2007 & 2008 & 2010 crias are FEMALE!! In 2007, she had a beautiful beige girl named FRA Peruvian Ophelia, born 8/2/07 out of Royal Peruvian Avanti and Odessa, born 8/10/08 out of Aladdin...and now Opal, born 10/1/2010. Note those birth dates! This Golden Girl produces each year without any assistance, has plenty of milk and rebreeds easily on schedule.
WOW: Look at her micron at 10 years of age: AFD 24.7; SD only 4.2; CV only 17.0 You won't get any more uniform than this, and holding her fiber character at 12 years old.
Our Ultimate Retirement Sale is in full swing!! Every alpaca we own is included...none held back!! Most of our females
Medium Rose Grey, 1238747, 1/4 Chilean, 3/4 Peruvian
This outstanding rose gray male took Blue and Reserve at AOBA 2009 at the age of 54 months!! This followed right on the heels of his Championship at the 2009 Kentucky Classic. To quote the breeder/former owner: If you could put all the best performing, most unique blend of genetics into one Stud for the most advanced color breeding program...that's exactly what Snowmass did and the result is nothing short of magnificent!!
It starts with his sire, Snowmass XXXtreme, a brown male out of the renowned Snowmass Royal Rose, a Hemingway son. Pair that with a MSG female, Snowmass Silver Star, out of Snowmass Casanova, a Bueno son, and Sir Winston's Sunstar from the revered Australian breeding program of Roger Haldane.
Snowmass Alpacas' entire gray genetic program is in this unbelievable Gray stud. To quote Julie and Don Skinner: If we were to have a Royal grey line of alpacas, Enlightenment is what it would take to get us there!!
I am very proud to have Opal in our herd. This is the 15.9 micron daughter of 6Peruvian Octavia who was imported on one of the strictest criteria imports, and the last, from Peru. Her rating on importation was an 8.5 out of 10 and she has certainly lived up to that high regard. At 13-plus years of age, she still delivers a healthy, beautiful cria every year. Her micron at 10 years of age was an amazing 24.7 with a SD of 4 and CV of 17. Can we talk about consistency and lingering fineness? Moving on to Opal's sire we have, none other than Snowmass Enlightenment. I had the privelage of being at AOBA Nationals in 2009 when Enlightenment won the RVS Color Championship at 54 months of age. Sometimes the presence of an alpaca just moves you and touches something that says "these genetics belong on my farm". When he left the ring, I went to get a better look. Wow is all I can say and I started my quest at that moment. Density, fineness, crimp, conformation, style, presence. Dr. Norm Evans measured Enlightenment's follicular density at 68 folicals per square millimeter, well above the average. Opal, herself is a charmer and a beauty. She is a compact package with the style of her sire and the presense to boot. Opal is the PR Alpaca for Two Crows and gets the "precious award" from everyone for her "impish grin". She carried a 15.9 micron at her first shearing. We showed her at Carolina Alpaca Celebration and she took the 3rd place ribbon. We are very excited to see the results from her fleece showings with this years blanket. So far she has started out great with a 2nd at 2012 AOBA Nationals in May! Opal will be extraordinary foundation stock in a year or two. If superior grey genetics from the advanced Snowmass program appeal to you and if you are looking for consistency and lingering fineness, Opal is a foundation female to consider. Hurry though...I am partial to this girl and might change my mind before you get here!
