Gardenia is owned by Julie Jarvinen of Pine Forty Farms. Pine Forty is a large herd of suris boarded in 3 locations. This dam is available exclusively via The Secret Meadow of Close-Knit Alpacas and can be purchased individually OR as part of an incredible Collection at an "unspeakable" price found only in The Secret Meadow.
Gardenia's a lovely, older dam (though not too old!), tried 'n' true, steady & consistent. She was early maturing, producing her 1st cria at 3 yrs. Proven dams like her are worth their weight in gold and especially advantageous to have if you are new to alpacas. She will set your mind at ease and "show you the way!" You'll fall in love with this girl, no question about it.
Gardenia boasts all Bolivian bloodlines, which is not easy to come by these days. It's important to maintain genetic vigor with a nice balance and variation on bloodlines utilized in ones breeding program, so Gardenia definitely puts something of serious value on the table in that department. Oh, but there's more...
I interviewed her caregiver, Dr. Bill Hedberg, DVM asking what he could tell us about her production qualities. He said, "She's really easy to breed & tease - and she's a good mother." Gardenia has produced no fewer than five ARI registered offspring between 2003 and 2007. Her '06 male is unregistered. She's a producer of ribbon-winning suris, as well. She's been held open during the recession and is ready for your quality breeding and/or fiber program.
Her fiber is still locking, really soft & silky.
When I asked Bill to tell me what stands out most about Gardenia, his immediate response was, "Her size & conformation," going on to say she is "overall pleasant and calm." I pushed for just a smidgeon more because I know you want to know as much about her as possible. In one word, how does Bill Hedberg describe Gardenia? "NOTICEABLE." That's what we want to hear!
Gardenia's had basic halter training & exhibits normal behavior when handled.
Awards Received Never shown... However, one of her daughters, Amelita, was shown and did well in the ring!
