La Ruth is owned by Julie Jarvinen of Pine Forty Farm, with a large herd of 100+ suris boarded in three locations in the U.S. This dam is available exclusively via The Secret Meadow of Close-Knit Alpacas. She can be purchased individually OR as part of an incredible Collection at an "unspeakable" price found only in The Secret Meadow.
La Ruth is of mixed Peruvian and Bolivian heritage with some very nice bloodlines in her pedigree (see her ARI certificate posted with this listing, please). I asked her caregiver, veterinarian Bill Hedberg of Bill Hedberg Farms, Inc. in Iowa, what he believes stands out the most about La Ruth and his response? "Her Pedigree." Take a look and you'll see why!
La Ruth is a real grand dam in persona and carriage. She's a sweetheart, too, "with a calm temperament," adds Bill, and according to him she has placed herself in the middle of the herd as far as her "pecking order" position. What does this mean to you and me? It tells me she doesn't
Cloudypass' Peruvian Socrates
White, 833191, Peruvian
PPeruvian Baron son and maternal grandson of Peruvian Fineza Nieve G181.
Socrates' sire, PPeruvian Baron G4580, is the producer of no fewer than 96 ARI registered offspring in colors white, beige, light fawn, medium fawn and medium brown.
Socrates has produced no fewer than 36 ARI registered offspring as of October 2011, and in colors white, beige, light fawn, medium fawn and dark fawn. Heads up, though, as he is obviously a heterozygous suri, having produced four huacaya offspring, so this should be kept in mind when making breeding decisions involving this male as a choice.

Lady Bird is being cared for by Christian and Michelle Davies, who describe her temperament as "Average." I interpret that to mean she is as lovable and easy going as most all alpacas!
The fact that Lady Bird is "a big girl" stands out most about her, according to Michelle.
Lady Bird's position in the herd is "towards the top" which tells us she's got enough confidence to assert herself appropriately and lead a group if necessary, though she does not have to be "Queen of the Hill."
Lady Bird's fleece from 2011 displays long staple! It's got a sweet light twist and decent lock, too. Oh, you're going to like it. I'm sure it's going to make some fine yarn!
I asked Michelle and Christian about her halter training and how she is when being handled, and here's what they said: Lady Bird "Needs work" in the handling department (haltering, leading, cooperating w/herd health procedures). Well, it's good to know this from the outset. What this can also mean to you is that if you're the type who likes to spend time with your animal friends, the time and halter training you devote to Lady Bird will create a very special bond for the two of you, and make her life (and yours) less stressful.
Lady Bird presents a wonderful opportunity, and one I hope you will grab while you can!
