Cachemira and A2A Coppersmith are pleased to announce that they will expect their second cria together in June of 2006. We were thrilled with the results that this combination of Dam and Sire produced, that we have repeated the breeding for 2006. Coppersmith has done a wonderful job improving triats of this production female's cria. We are seeing that "typey" alpaca head, excellent conformation, fine fleece and much improved coverage over the dam.

Cachemira always throws top quality cria and this year was no execption. Samuel Adams is a very well conformed little fellow with a curious, friendly personality. He is taking after his grandsire Alainza Peruvian Choco and carrying his dark rose grey fleece. He’s also got the Coppersmith trademark...superfine, lusterous fleece that just shimmers in the sunlight.

Cachemira is the ideal Dam for someone new to Alpaca farming. She is an excellent mother, and has no trouble birthing on her own. When we purchased Cachemira we had absolutely no livestock experience! She has a wonderful temprament which she passes on to her cria, and she'll let you do anything to her without a peep. Cachemira was never shown. She was brought to the United States as a Chilean import in 1998, and has been with Maine Alpaca Company production herd for the past 2 years. Cachemira always improves her cria, and we look forward to seeing Samuel Adams take home the ribbons in 2006.
