Kara is a 3/4 Peruvian granddaughter of the Accoyo herdsire Peruvian Timoteo, who is known for his fine fleece. Kara's soft fleece continues the tradition, and it is quite clear that she is passing on those characteristics to her offspring. Kara has given birth to 3 female cria out of Dom Savone: a dark brown, dark silver grey and true black. We are so delighted with the results of her breeding to Dom Savone, that she was bred back to Savone for 2007 cria.
Kara is one of our larger females and her dam is our herd matriarch who has easily given birth to 5 girls! Like her dam, Kara is a very attentive mother who keeps a watchful eye on her cria.
"Savone" is our beautiful full Peruvian silver grey male. He is a large alpaca who has great presence. Whenever we showed him, judges commented on his strong conformation; the extremely soft and beautiful handle of his fleece, the uniformity and lovely character of his crimp; and the density throughout his fleece. After two years of breeding, he has produced a variety of offspring with beautiful heads, good conformation, and lovely fleeces. When bred to grey or black females, he has thrown either gray or black. When bred to fawn or brown, he has thrown rose grey and brown.
If you enjoy the feeling of satisfaction when you look at your alpaca, then Spirit Song Solana will surely delight your eye. From her stylish head to her well-proportioned body, she is a beautiful female whose fine crimpy fleece has a wonderful handle.
Solana is the result of combining the genetics of our award winning herdsire, Dom Savone, a son of Dom Timbo with those of her dam, who is a grand-daughter of the Accoyo herdsire, PPeruvian Timoteo. Judges have recognized the outstanding qualities of Savone. His national awards include two second place ribbons for his fleece and a third in halter at AOBA. His progeny continue the tradition. Solana's full sister, Spirit Song Lady won Reserve Color Champion at Spring Fling.
Like her sire, Solana has caught the eye of the judges. She placed a very close second in halter at the Great Western Alpaca Show, second behind the the color champion at Spring Fling, and at AOBA she placed third.
In 2007 Solana delivered her first cria out of Strider, Spirit Song Brigid (SOLD). At the 08 GMAF Brigid won a blue ribbon in her dark brown juvenile female class. Congratulations to Brigid's new owners, Kelly and Victoria Strauser of Aspendance Alpacas!
Solana's 2008 cria, Spirit Song Namaste (SOLD), is a lovely true black female out of AFA Royal Peruivan Aristocrat. Namaste has been shown twice, and at the IAOBA Alpaca Fest won 2nd in the True Black Juvenile Females, and at the MN Alpaca Expo she placed 4th in the True Black Juvenile Females.
UPDATE: Solana had her cria on August 5, 2009. A beautiful black female out of Avalon's Lace's Peruvian Black Lance. Solana and her daughter, Spirit Song Savor the Sweetness are currently priced together for $21,000.
