The future value of alpacas will be based upon their ability to produce an abundance of fine, luxurious fiber with sheen and a soft hand - year after year. Our goal is to unlock the genetic potential of the alpaca to produce the ultra-fine fleece that is their heritage from the vicuna - the most valuable of all the natural fibers.
To help us create a 'white vicuna', we are focusing on alpacas from the farms of the Alianza co-op - world famous for producing the finest alpacas.
Pirouette was imported with the first group of alpacas from Peru. From the Rural Alianza, as a mature breeding female she still has a fine fleece of good density. She is correct, substantial, typey and well covered with fiber. Best of all, she still has an impressively soft hand, low AFD, brightness and character - amazing for a broodhembre of her age!!!
Pirouette produced a white female cria for us in 2006, sired by Peruvian Celebre. Named in honor of her deceased sire, "Celebrate" delights us with her overall quality and her bright, crimpy, bundled fleece. Her full Alianza lineage is a a bonus. We could not be more pleased.
Now 18 years of age, this gracious old gal will remain in our herd for many more years, we hope!
After taking a well-earned break, Pirouette produced another promising white female sired by Bolero cn 5/23/09. Her latest cria arrived on 6/8/10, a white Bolero son. Thank you, Pirouette!!
