Mi Alma was our first linebreeding experiment--and what a success! She's the best animal we've ever produced on our farm, and she's healthy as can be and has had no problems with getting pregnant or delivering crias. Her first is a stunningly beautiful Royal Rose daughter who won first place in a class of eleven at the Great Western show in Denver, then was awarded the Brown Female Color Championship at SoCalpaca by Jude Anderson. She just gave birth to a very bright and beautiful beige Romeo son named Almaden. His parents are both champions, and his grandsires are Microsoft and Legacy, so we expect great things from him. Mi Alma will be linebred back to Microsoft-Accoyo Marco Polo, for what should produce an elite elite fleece.
Snowmass Royal Rose
Medium Fawn, 807337, Peruvian & Chilean
Multi-champion producer of multiple champions. Most celebrated Hemingway son of color.
And we thought her mother was good! Alma Rose's dam, Hummingherd's Mi Alma, was Reserve Champion at the Futurity and twice at IAO, then won the AOBA Fleece Show. Mi Alma sold for $57000 at the 2007 Parade of Champions auction. We bred her to the best male of color we could find in the Northwest, Snowmass Royal Rose, and somehow managed to improve on her dam. Alma Rose won a field of eleven older brown juveniles at GWAS as a juvenile, then took Brown Female Color Champion at SoCalpaca. She has now added Brown Female Champion at GWAS in 2006, as well as Best Bred & Owned Yearling Female at both the AWE and GWAS shows. We had to look hard to find a male worthy to be her breeding partner--and found Snowmass Legacy Gold, who just sold for $500,000 in the Snowmass auction. We were fortunate enough to get the last outside breeding to this exceptional male--and we're very glad we got a brown male out of this pairing. He won Reserve Champion in the national show in 2008 (Hummingherd's Legacy de Oro, see his AN listing). Alma Rose's 2008 cria is a medium fawn Running Late daughter who paired up with her older brother and won first place in Produce of Dam for Alma Rose in three regional shows in 2009. Alma Rose is truly a gem. Next she gave birth to a medium fawn Perfection daughter, and most recently to a gorgeous dark fawn Running Late daughter named Mi Corazon. She's been rebred to two-time AOBA winner Snowstorm. This girl is an incredible value.
