Twilight is the first alpaca we purchased. She is our herd matriarch and undisputed mistress of whatever pen she's in. She enforces order. Additionally Twilight is an exemplary mother. She produces healthy crias and under her most watchful eye they grow to be very self-assured alpacas. Her fiber color has always been one of the most requested for yarn. Twilight is rose grey with a lavender cast.
Scenario is a heavy boned, statuesque young male. His fiber is dense and soft with good crimp and bundling. When spun it is the color of spun honey. Scenario is the grandson of Pperuvian Vengador (son of Shere Khan) and the son of DLA Peruvian Alejandro. His dam, Jolimont Peruvian Cinimo is dark fawn.
Rosa Lee is a product of our lavender rose grey foundation female, Twilight, and our herdsire, Scenario. We waited for the first ten years we owned Twilight for her to give us a clone of herself. Finally!!! Most exciting is her fiber, both the color and the character. Her fiber definitely has a lavender cast with virtually no spots on her blanket and it displays a good crimp, with density and softness.
Rosa is an attentive, excellent mother who has ample rich milk for her crias, Rita, born in 2009. We were pleased with the breeding combination of Rosa with Lockhart which produced Rita so we repeated it for 2010. There was no disappointment. Rosa had a healthy, dark silver grey male, Rafferty. First indications are that Rafferty's fiber will be very good. He's a bright, active, young male for whom we have high expectations.
07-05-12 Update: Rosa and "The Kid" gave us a beautiful, solid dark brown male today.
