PPPeruvian Molly

White, 138828, Full Peruvian

PPPeruvian Molly, beloved Matriarch of Dancing Wind Alpacas, lost her battle with the far-reaching spread during fall 2007 of the "ARDS" virus (Alpaca Respiratory Disease Syndrome) and died from complications of pneumonia, December 19, 2007 at nearly 14 years of age. I am still devistated and miss her desperately, as I know do the "other girls". I occasionally catch daughters Gen or Mariah standing in the barn, seemingly in contemplation or perhaps just "remembering" a special moment with their Mom. Molly was an excellent and protective dam, had easy, unassisted births and provided ample milk, supporting cria growth of .5 to 1 pound per day. She has left a tremendous legacy in her sons and daughters born at Dancing Wind: Renegade and Armani, Ms Genevieve, Grace and Mariah, and in her grandson Taku and granddaughter Luna. I always felt blessed by her presence and honored beyond measure to be her "shepherdess". Though Molly is buried at Dancing Wind, I know her spirit spends "time"

A.C. is an ultrafine white male with solid genetics for fleece quality. His grandfathers, Accoyo Peruvian Victor and Peruvian Hemingway, are well known for consistently producing top quality crias with extraordinary fiber. His sire, Snowmass Peruvian Escobar, is a show champion, known for his extremely bright and fine fleece. A.C.'s dam, Snowmass Victorian Glow, is a medium fawn vicuna patterned beauty out of a medium brown AOBA blue ribbon winning mother. A.C. has the full range of color behind him, including black and grey. This boy has the most beautiful, soft, silky, fleece we have ever seen with characteristics including density, extreme luster, long staple length (6 inches unstretched at age 10 months), extraordinary handle, fineness, and a beautiful deep amplitude interlocking crimp along the entire length of the staple. He has sound conformation and bite. We are extremely proud that upon seeing his fleece samples and photographs Snowmass Alpacas asked whether we woul

Grace is a beautiful white female with many desirable characteristics, Snowmass genetics on her sire's side, and in her lineage, Accoyo Peruvian Victor and Peruvian Hemingway. She is at the beginning of her breeding career, having given birth to her first cria 10/5/08. Francesca is a gorgeous little girl with a "Silky type" fleece, as described in the Snowmass Alpacas "Making of Champions Part II" brochure. Francesca's fleece exhibits intense brightness/luster, has an extremely soft hand, and a 4-inch staple (relaxed) at just four months of age. According to Julie Skinner of Snowmass Alpacas, this type of fleece will be very important in the textile industry!

Grace herself has a lovely fleece made up of high frequency/medium amplitude crimp, great density, wonderful brightness and a 5-inch staple. Her conformation and bite are very correct and her disposition is sweet. Please take note of the results of the certified sorting and grading of her fleece, Spring 2008. In terms of the alpaca fiber industry, Grade 2 equates to "superfine", or, 20 - 22.9 microns. Her neck actually graded as a "1", meaning "ultrafine" or <20 microns. Grace is a very loving and protective Mom and has provided ample milk for her daughter.

Grace is currently being leased by Windrush Alpacas in Clovis, New Mexico, (transferred from Llano Soleado Alpacas) and has been bred to their award winning "Treasure". If you are interested in Grace, please contact myself or Rosemary and Ric Metcalf.
