Condor -- noted for siring many beautiful patterned suri alpacas, including most of the first appaloosas we saw in the industry. His offspring continue to be in high demand, bringing above-average prices at auctions. Charica's offspring have included appies and patterns, even when she has been bred to white -- when we bred her to white Snowmass Lightning Locks, she had the totally appy, Locks of Freckles, who had a micron count of 17. Charica's dam, Chacon, is also the dam of Shadowland Ranch's outstanding patterned herdsire, GLL In Cahoots. Charica is lovely, with incredible presence and dense, soft, locky, lustrous fiber with the usual appaloosa spots so typical of Condor's offspring. She has excellent coverage and conformation. She is offered bred and due in the Spring, 2009, and comes with a 10-day live cria guarantee and a free rebreeding in 2009 to any of our solely-owned herdsires or any of the herdsires we co-own with Shadowland Ranch Suri Alpacas, including Snowmass Lightning Locks, Maserati of PVA, and Godiva's Peruvian Royal Chocolatier ("Choco"). We are finally admitting what many breeders already thought was obvious — we should not be raising white/light alpacas on this farm. These past two years of drought and this summer’s early high temperatures have finally made us see just how impossible it is to raise white/light alpacas here with our red clay. While white and fawn suris can be so beautiful, not here. They are incredibly orange, and they just aren’t pretty. Many of our nicest suris have never been shown because of this problem. Anyway, we’ve decided it’s time to do something about it, and so, we are having a WHITE SALE.
