Afrodita is our herd matriarch. Purchased from Snowmass Alpacas, she is said by Julie Skinner to have the strongest vicuna phenotype of any alpaca they have ever had on their ranch. Even with advanced age, Afrodita's fleece remains dense and very fine.

Truly our "Old Faithful" and now over 14 years old, Afrodita keeps plugging away like a female half her age! Always birthing and conceiving effortlessly, Afrodita is trouble-free and a great mom. Her offspring have always been very healthy.

Easy to handle, she "melts" after being held for just a few seconds, and even picks up her feet for toenail trims.

Following the birth of her latest cria, a daughter born June 2006, she conceived on one breeding at 19 days postpartum, despite milking so heavily that her cria was gaining almost a pound a day!

Now in her old age, Afrodita has earned a permanent place in our hearts and on the farm. She will remain here to enjoy life, and produce fine-fleeced crias as long as

Compadre is a magnificent True Black Herd Sire from strong black genetics. Born October 12, 1999, he is one of the best alpacas ever produced at Alpacas de la Patagonia. Now with 21 cria born he is producing some of Patagonia's best cria and proving his prepotency. He has stamped out in every cria his beautiful head, strong bone, solid conformation, great density & fineness, and extreme luster, hand, crimp & lock definition. Compadre also has extremely strong black color genetics. He has produced 100% Black when bred to Black and twice when bred to Grey and has produced Grey. When bred to Whites, Fawns and Browns he has thrown Black 41% of the time and so far has always produced cria darker than color of the dam.
