Daughter of the legendary Hemingway, Chiarella (say CHEE-uh-RAY-uh) is a sweet and gentle female who passes on her desirable temperament to her offspring. Chia's darling face is enhanced by a white blaze on the front of her dense topknot, and she has dense coverage of finely crimped, lustrous golden fleece down to her toes. She exhibits a compact body style, good bite and heavy bone.

A notable trait of Chia and her daughters is that they are bold at the dinner table! They have no trouble holding their weight while lactating heavily, and we don't worry about coddling them when they are visiting at a breeding farm.

Chia delivers her 15-21 lb. crias unassisted, provided ample milk and is a calm and patient mother. She has provided us with 3 fawn daughters and 2 red-brown sons. We like her 2006 son so well, we rebred Chia and two of her daughters to the same male- see below.

Vidal is a hunk! He has matured into a striking macho with his heavy bone, magnificent head and wonderful coverage of dense fiber. From his first halter show as a juvenile and his last show at 4 years of age, these comments have been consistent from the judges. Vidal's commanding presence along with his ease of handling have made showing him a pleasant experience. An added bonus to our farm is that Vidal has repeatedly shown that he is able to settle his females with only one breeding.

Vidal's light brown fiber is extremely dense with tight crimp from his chin to below his knees. We had our fiber sorted and graded at the time we sheared in 2006, and that person was so impressed by Vidal's uniformity of character that she sent a girl for breeding a couple weeks later.

Vidal has many cria on the ground, and has thrown a 50/50 gender ratio. The offspring have come in solid colors: black, browns, fawns and white. They have beautiful fine crimpy fiber that bundles
