REFERENCE HERDSIRE LISTING:
Durango's lovely medium rose grey fiber is one of the truest rose grey colors we have ever seen. While his fiber no long carries the fineness it once did, it continues to be wonderfully consistent, retaining nice hand. His conformation and balance are excellent, representing characteristics we want to pass on to future generations. As one judge put it, "He is so striking that you just WANT to place him first!"
Durango's crias have been wonderful with bright, crimpy fiber and exceptional staple length. Their fiber is even better than either their sire's or dam's...exactly what we want from a herdsire!
Durango has reluctantly been retired from breeding as we are now using our two black herdsires with our grey and black females. Avalon Farm has been Durango's home since his birth, and he will continue to live here with us with our thanks. He is listed here for reference purposes only.
Here is one that has fooled us....way back when he was a youngster, he was bay black...which is why we registered him as such. Through the course of time, however, Big Al has become a Very Handsome Grey Male with a colorful genetic background. His sire is a rose grey & his mom is black, but continues to become more grey with age as well!
He stands proud and flows smoothly in his gait. Big Al also has strong bones, a conformationally correct body, a nice typey head and beautiful crimpy fiber. His fiber is dense and has a great handle to it. His mother passed her awesome fine fiber right down to him.
