We selected Bonita to add to our herd because she is an alpaca with elite fleece, strong conformation, and the manageability we all desire in our animals. Bonitas fiber is bright, with excellent staple length, well defined, uniform character and carries with it a wonderful soft hand and above average density. She is a large framed gal who halters & handles with ease, has a sweet, calm, friendly, and curious nature, even as a pregnant female!
Her fineness is outstanding at AFD 16.6 microns, and most importantly she carries the genetics to hold that fineness for many years. She is both a Victor and El Moustachio granddaughter and her dam is an outstanding production girl holding a consistent 22-23 micron count at age ten with numerous cria. Bonitas granddame, holds steady at 24 microns at age 12+. We are confident Bonita has no intention of being outdone by her ancestors. Bonita's fleece placed 2nd at the Mid-America Alpaca Show, judged by Kevin O'Leary in October.
Commander is a showstopper and is passing on his incredible looks and fleece to his crias! We temporarily lowered his breeding fee this summer in order for you to take advantage of this outstanding herdsire and allow him to get more crias on the ground. Now that we see what he can do, we've raised his fee to a more realistic price. Every cria sired by Commander has had his (and his mother's) beautiful head. His cria have ranged from white to fawn to grey out of an assortment of white and colored females, providing that color gene from his dam's sire, the remarkable Camilio.
Commander is full Peruvian and over half Accoyo, providing, we believe, the best of both worlds. Being full Peruvian provides the looks and fiber density to shine through while not limiting the breeding possibilites in full Accoyos. His Accoyo heritage brings in the wonderful fineness and crimp so prized by many breeders. Although fiber and conformation are some of the most important attributes of a
Prairie's Pangaea, aka Gigi, is a powerhouse of genetics. She exhibits all of the qualities we look for in an "A" class female and is more impressive each and every day. Each time we evaluate Gigi, it is a pleasing result. Her conformation is strong and her fleece is flat out stunning. We entered her fleece in the AFCNA Continental Fleece Show '08; she was awarded First Place in her class of 9 Lt fawns & went on to receive the Color Champion of all Light females. She has since gone on to be awarded several more First Placements, in fleece and halter, a "Best Hand" in fleece, and many many more high placements. She has placed well in every show she has entered: both halter and fleece. She is just a gorgeous female, & she should be.
Gigi's lineage is full Peruvian lines with the best in the Hemi-Accoyo cross. Her dam is from the (Victor & El Moustachio)lines of proven producers, maintaining fine dense fleeces into their mature years. Gigi is one of the first cria's from Stonemist's Commander, the son of PCA Hemingway-Accoyo Nautilus. Thus far Commander has been having an impact on the offspring, complimenting the breeding with excellent fiber qualities & color to boot. We are pleased to have added such a combination of genetics.
***Gia's 2010 cria, Pannotia, is very nice - we are very pleased with what we are seeing in this young female, aka Tia. Check her out ---very very nice!
