FIONA of Stirling Ridge

White, 847151, 1/2 Bolivian, 1/2 Peruvian

Dear Fiona is one of our favorites--easy going, sweet. She turned 5 in May and just birthed her 3rd cria on July 17th, a beige girl, Maisie. Another easy birth! From first sighting the nose to actually dropping the cria on the ground took 8 minutes total! Fiona is big and so are her cria so if you are looking to add some size, here's the girl to do it. Her larger frame has made her births easy and unassisted; her crias get plenty of milk and grow fast.

Her newest cria was sired by Thunder Moon Casper. Casper is a strapping hulk of a guy, square framed, strong boned out of Maple Brook Fandango. The great BUENO and Vengador are Casper's grandsires so Maisie has a very nice lineage.

Fiona has strong Caligula genetics with color in her background. She has given us a light fawn son with grey markings and now this latest beige girl with dark skin, so we know she can produce color.

We suggest Accoyo America Diomedes for her next breeding or another breeding to Casp

  Premier's Vidal
    Light Brown, 832639, 3/4 Peruvian

Vidal is a hunk! He has matured into a striking macho with his heavy bone, magnificent head and wonderful coverage of dense fiber. From his first halter show as a juvenile and his last show at 4 years of age, these comments have been consistent from the judges. Vidal's commanding presence along with his ease of handling have made showing him a pleasant experience. An added bonus to our farm is that Vidal has repeatedly shown that he is able to settle his females with only one breeding.

Vidal's light brown fiber is extremely dense with tight crimp from his chin to below his knees. We had our fiber sorted and graded at the time we sheared in 2006, and that person was so impressed by Vidal's uniformity of character that she sent a girl for breeding a couple weeks later.

Vidal has many crias on the ground, and has thrown a 50/50 gender ratio. The offspring have come in solid colors: black, browns, fawns and white. They have beautiful fine crimpy fiber that bundles

2NW ALPACA SHOWCASE UPDATE: DAUGHTER CHLOE TOOK A 6TH PLACE RIBBON AMONG THE COMPETITIVE WHITE JUVENILES!

Gosh, we are feeling the space crunch as the '09 crias get larger. Hence we are reducing the price on some bred females in hopes of making room for more new crias on the way.

Nona's pedigree displays stellar genetics with great grandsires Caligula and Camilio...and Snowmass Angelica on the female side. She is a large, very well-proportioned alpaca that births well, milks extremely well, and is virtually trouble free.

We originally bred her to our Thunder Moon Casper to see if we could pull the color from both backgrounds -- Casper had never thrown a white for us. Well, he did this time around, but Wow!...is this little female ever special! Grazing Hills Chloe is a large female, and she sports perfect conformation, tons of coverage, and a lovely fleece with a very long staple length. We knew she didn't have the qualifications to win in the tough white juvenile category, but we took her to NW Alpaca Showcase anyway and were thrilled that she brought home a 6th place ribbon. The judge's comments included what we knew to be true...she's "a very stylish young lady!" Chloe is already bred as Nona puts out good sized girls that mature very quickly. We knew Chloe was ready to breed because she hopped the fence for Diomedes. It was a surprise to come out for the evening feeding and find a very happy Diomedes breeding Chloe in HIS pen. And the breeding resulted in a pregnancy, fortunately one that was planned for a couple weeks later. :)

We paired Nona with Diomedes for 2009, and we got another gorgeous female with super soft white fleece...on this one, we expected white! Naomi is also a big girl that will be ready to breed in the summer. We opted to put Nona to Casper again for 2010 as there is one fawn spot on Chloe's side, so we think color is bound to come through next time around, right?????
