We bought Patagonia's Neruda at the 2007 Futurity Show and Sale and he is now part of our group of elite Herdsires. His previous owners at Alpacas de la Patagonia considered him one of their top three herdsires. Patagonia reserved those herdsires for client use only and as a result, outside breedings to Neruda have ALWAYS been restricted. He was "a cornerstone of their black and grey breeding program" giving them their "FINEST black and grey fleeces that are virtually free of medullated fiber". At 8 years of age his histogram is 23.1m/5.3sd/22.9cv/9.2%>30. Neruda's crias are easily identifiable by their extremely fine fleeces, beautiful heads, substantially thick bone and extensive fiber coverage. With more than 120 crias on the ground, Neruda has proven that when bred to black or grey females, 96% of the resulting offspring have been black or grey in color.
Neruda's sire Shackleton, a black male brought from Chile, was for many years one of the finest fleeced males found in
Bacchante has a beautiful, graceful form and is by far the brightest maroon alpaca you will see. And, we have the most beautiful yarn made from her fleece to prove it! She is also a Blue Ribbon maroon! Her maroon herdsire brothers are also: a first at MAPACA for her brother Niceros, and a first at the AOBA Nationals for her brother Ravi Divine. And that is just on her moms side. On her father NERUDA'S side, well, how many blue ribbon offspring and color champions? TOO MANY TO LIST! Bacchante's mom is still out at Patagonia, and has produced nothing but true maroon. When the judge Kristen Burhman reached into Bacchante's fleece she actually closed her eyes with delight at the feel of her fleece. She then called the assistant judge over to show him also. She took the blue in that large class, and the comments were made about the "buttery soft feel" of her fleece, and the gorgeous color we don't get to see very often" "truly a beautiful alpaca"! What about personality? Bacchante is well trained, works well on halter, and is a very mellow girl. Like most alpacas she is curious, and extremely endearing.
Bacchante had her first cria on June 16th, 2008 - a beautiful maroon boy whom we have named SLEEPING MONK FARM BRIO! BRIO has been sold to an alpaca farm in Canada as a herdsire.
We bred her to POLARIS for her 2009 cria. On August 20th, 2009 BACCHANTE gave birth to an amazing MRG little girl who we have named SLEEPING MONK FARM BITSIE BIRDIE!
BRED TO OLIVER, BACCHANTE gave birth to SLEEPING MONK FARM BOJANGLES on October 1st, 2010. IMAGINE OLIVER'S FLEECE in a CLASSIC LIGHT ROSE GREY - THAT'S BOJANGLES!!!
BACCHANTE will be bred to our MRG CHAMPION, KODACHROME in the Fall of 2012 for her next cria. This breeding will combine the great genetics of ORLANDO CLOUD and NERUDA, bringing lingering fineness, density, elite architecture and beautiful deep color to your herd.
BACCHANTE will bring a wealth of color genetics and lingering fineness to any herd.
