UPDATE: On October 13, Sonoma gave birth to her second Crimson cria...another girl! This pretty fawn female is a bundle of energy and already loves tearing around the pasture with the other crias. Look for her listing to be posted soon.
Wow! What a fabulous match her breeding with Crimson turned out to be! In 2006 Sonoma gave birth to a very sweet, brown female cria, Avalon's Peruvian Kiera. Kiera has nice fiber, beautiful conformation, and a spunky personality. Rebreed? You bet! Pictures can be found on Kiera's AN Listing.
Sonoma is one of our original foundation females and has been a cornerstone of our breeding program. She was part of the 1995 Importaton from Peru, originating from the Sollocoto Region. The first cria she produced for us was Aristocrat, our premier fawn herdsire by Accoyo Royal Fawn. What a way to get started!
Although Sonoma is now older, she still has that "regal" look to her. Her once extremely dense, crimpy, fine fiber to

We have Snowmass Alpacas to thank for the exceptional pedigree of this extraordinary young herdsire. His rich brown fiber has a long staple length with "vicuna fineness and uniformity, yet added crimp and density." He is strong, stout, and perfect in his balance and conformation. Wow, dark color, long staple length, fiber fineness, density, and strong bone all in one package! No wonder that Crimson was described by Julie Skinner as their "Number ONE 2002 Andean Bronze son".
The Great Midwest Alpaca Fest was our only opportunity to show Crimson before he went into service, and we were delighted with the result! Before awarding him the blue ribbon and Reserve Color Champion, Judge Kristin Buhrmann described his fiber as "uniformly fine, bright, and dense." We look forward to the superior fiber quality we expect him to bring to our colored breeding program.
UPDATE: Exciting news! Crimson's is producing GREY, ROSE-GREY, and BLACK!

Avalon's Peruvian Sabrina is boarding at: Rustic Ridge Alpacas in Amherst Junction, WI
Inquiry Instructions For information about Sabrina, contact Tom or Brenda at 715-677-6986, or contact us at Avalon Farm Alpacas, 906-942-7599.
Sabrina is the daughter of our AFA Foundation Female, PPPeruvian Sonoma, who is the dam of our multiple Get of Sire winner, AFA Royal Peruvian Aristocrat. Sonoma has given us many wonderful crias over the years. She is not retired and will be living out her remaining time here with us at Avalon Farm.
Sabrina has pretty, consistent fawn color in a bright, crimpy fiber that covers her from nose to toes. Her compact frame and nice balance add to her overall attractive appearance. As a cria, she was independent from the "get-go", entertaining herself by running and stolting all alone from one end of the pasture to the other. Then she would dart in and out of the other crias until they joined her---a born leader!
Her sire, Snowmass King Crimson, contributed his deep color, brightness, and a long staple length, making Sabrina a lovely complete package!
Sabrina is co-owned with Tom and Brenda Trzinski and family of Rustic Ridge Alpacas where she lives full time. However, she is currently here at Avalon Farm so that she can be bred in the spring 2011.
As with all of our maidens, Sabrina sells with her FIRST breeding to the AFA herdsire of Buyer's choice. We plan to breed Sabrina to either our white color champion, Avalon's Peruvian Impresario, or to our champion producing herdsire, Black Jag.
EVERY FEMALE purchased from Avalon Farm is eligible for reduced price breedings to any solely owned AFA herdsire FOR HER BREEDING LIFE, regardless of owner.
