Welcome to Shady Oaks Farm. Located 12 miles north of Vandalia, IL, 65 miles east of St. Louis, MO, deep in the heart of farming county.
My wife and I bought a small farm with our daughter a few years ago. We had 4 lots, 2 sheds, a pond and a barn on 13 acres with lots of shady oak trees on the property. We wanted to put some animals in the pastures but wanted something different, something no one else had. While watching television one night we saw an advertisement about raising alpacas, and that was it. That was something no one in our area had.
We started researching and surfing the internet and pretty soon we bought a small herd from a lady in Indiana. She gave us a lot of information and insite about alpacas.
