Alpacas are a wonderful animal to raise and breed. They are fun to watch, gentle and docile to handle, and less costly to feed than other animals such as horses. Their feet have pads like a dog's, so they are gentler on pasture than cows or horses. The income produced is from shearing (once a year, usually in the spring) and sales of some of the herd.
