As a full service alpaca farm, our business has been
built around our passion for alpacas and our belief in
the importance of alpaca fleece. We stand behind the
health and quality of every alpaca we sell and the
customers we sell them to.

As our breeding business has matured, we have moved
away from purchase & breeding decisions based on
ribbons, selling prices or "country of origin" to a
selective data driven breeding plan, based on the SRS ™ breeding system and reproductive ability.
Through education, advice of industry experts and the
use of the SRS™ system as a guide, we have watched our
herd transform from its humble beginnings to producing
alpacas whose measured traits are staying ahead of
industry averages. We think this can be attributed to
the use of skin biopsy tests to qualify males for breeding. |

At Dougherty Creek we believe in the potential alpacas have to bring profitable returns to small US farms by diversifying farm operations with small to medium sized herds of high end fiber production alpacas.
It is our goal to generate ever improving fleece quality on healthy, sound animals that will in turn produce maximum returns as fiber producers – or in practical terms - to breed and sell the type of production alpacas that fiber operations need to return the highest profits.
For some time, the efforts of most US alpaca breeders have been focused on breeding for a wide variety of color, driven by demand from the breeding and show markets. Through the work of several US alpaca industry efforts, demand for North American white and light alpaca fiber is about to increase dramatically.
We have been patiently focused on the quality of our white and light alpacas in preparation for the shift currently underway to a fiber production model. We are proud of the quality we are achieving in our whites and lights and we are now in the position to offer alpacas with fleece production traits that are on par with some of the best available in the US.
