Flying M Suri Alpacas

I want to apologize, I have not done a very good job of keeping pictures and information properly updated; we sold our house in town and moved to the farm...any of you who have lived in a house for 18 years know what we're going through! Add the fact we're building a new log home and our time to keep websites current is seriously limited!

The Flying 'M' Ranch is nestled in a quiet hide-a-way spot near the Ninnescah River in south-central Kansas. While most of the surrounding country side is the traditional flat Kansas farm ground, we enjoy a garden spot with trees, good water and excellent grass for all the "kids" as we call them. Owned and operated by Michael & Janis Murphy, we began purchasing our first suri alpacas in December 2001. After much research and thought, we decided on the suris because we loved the long pencils of fiber and the luster as it shines in the sun in addition to the fact that since they are much more rare...the potential for investment should last for quite some time. As Michael is now retired from his former job as an airline captain, he can dedicate all his time to this fantastic business of raising alpacas! He served a term as President of MOPACA, our regional affiliate; in spring of '05 he was elected and served a term on the board of Suri Network, the national affiliate dedicated to the preservation of our beautiful suri alpacas. He was the board liaison to the Marketing Committee and continues as Managing Editor of the Purely Suri Magazine published by The Suri Network.

We began construction on our dream log home this fall. This will lead to another dream; a Bed and Breakfast in conjunction with the alpaca ranch. We will use the original home for the basis of the B&B with extra rooms in the log house as needed. The house is more like a museum and is quite unique. We will add pictures and info to our "services" listing as we get closer to completion. Michael is building it himself!
