We have experienced the joyful and satisfying alpaca business for the past 9 years! We love the whole array of facets: breeding, birthing, raising, nurturing, showing, and most of all, we have appreciated the delightful relationships we have had with our beloved alpacas. However, the time has come for us to leave our farm. We are selling the farm and our herd that we have carefully grown over the years, which include the diverse genetics from several well-known herdsires. (For additional info please visit our farm website.) While we would like to sell our farm and herd as a complete package, we are currently selling packages and individuals alpacas. We have a range of quality alpacas at different ages and prices. This is a great opportunity to add new genetics to your herd or begin a new farm. We look forward to helping you live your alpaca dream. Please check the listings below and be in touch with us.
When we started our farm in 2000, our first priority was excellent conformation, and the second, a fine fleece with a soft handle. In the 9 years of our breeding program, we have succeeded in producing healthy cria in a variety of colors who have proven themselves at alpaca shows; those cria have now grown up and are producing the next generation of award-winning cria.
When you visit our farm, most of our alpacas will come and greet our visitors. Through our farm management, we have trained our alpacas to be comfortable around people, which makes chores an enjoyable experience.
Our herd currently includes the genetics of: 4Peruvian Black Magic, The Silversmith, Pperuvian Timoteo, 3Peruvian Royal Fawn, AFA Royal Peruvian Aristocrat, 3Peruvian Augusto, 4Peruvian White Wizzard, SA Emperado, SA Karrington, Accoyo Grand Master, 5Peruvain Silverado, CPeruvian Jaxon, FDA Paladin, Wily Coyote, 5Peruvian Capuccino, 3Peruvian El Rey, Highland Lochinvar, 6Peruvian Dom Timbo, and our own Dom Savone. |

We believe that the health and well-being of the North American alpaca is dependent on diversity, one of our goals in our breeding program is to evaluate the strengths and unique potential of our breeding females and to enhance these characteristics through breeding to appropriate herd sires. We are interested in good fleece characteristics in a variety of colors, as well as solid conformation with diverse genetics. We are excited about the offspring that our herdsire, Dom Savone, has produced in our herd. We are grateful for the years that Savone was here at our farm, and look forward to seeing his future generations.
When we designed and built our barn, we wanted to include features that would be good for our alpacas' health and well-being. We installed Nelson automatic waterers for access to fresh water at all times. We built large overhangs, so there would be shade in the summer; and in the winter, they would have a sheltered area to lay in the sun. We have made earthen mounds in the pastures so they would have place to check out the surrounding landscape, and a place to play.
At Spirit Song, we are concerned about maintaining a healthy environment for our herd. In 2005, we tested our herd for BVD, and we are pleased that they are free from from the virus. We will continue to monitor our herd with regular testing.
Since 2000, we have been growing our herd and our knowledge. We have attended workshops on birthing, herd management, alpaca behavior, and fiber. There is always more to learn in life, and we are grateful to those people and alpacas who have been teaching us.
We are located one hour north of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. |
