Blue Gate Alpacas is owned and operated by Ann Burnette and Rey Garcia. We began raising alpacas in 2002 after two years of research. Our farm motto is "the fiber of the Americas." With that motto in mind we have assembled a select herd of huacaya alpacas. We are also committed to maintaining the highest standards of herd management. Ann is recognized by Marty McGee Bennett with Apprentice Practitioner status. Rey currently serves as president of the TXOLAN Alpaca Association.
Blue Gate exclusively sells alpacas it owns and breeds. That way we can guarantee our clients direct and hands-on knowledge of each and every alpaca on our sales list. We are with our alpacas every day.
We are located in the Texas Hill Country just outside of Austin. Our alpacas share our property with our horse and three adopted greyhounds. Visitors are welcome by appointment. |

With two Ph.D.s running an alpaca operation, you might expect that we are committed to continuing research and development. As our understanding of breeding and genetics expands, we have continued to expand our herd with the express purpose of finding elite fleeced females to match with our own males and to breed to other outstanding herdsires from across the nation in order to introduce fine fleece genetics into our herd. |

| | Breeder Biography Blue Gate Alpacas is owned and operated by Ann Burnette and Rey Garcia. We began raising alpacas in 2002 and two years of research. We have a select herd of huacaya alpacas. We are committed to breeding for fine fleece and fine conformation. That commitment is demonstrated in our selection of herdsires for our ranch. We searched the country for studs that met the highest standards for fleece quality, conformation, and genetic diversity. Take a look at our herdsires for your breeding needs. | | | | | | | |
