The name “Eureka Springs” evolved from our decision to relocate to a rural setting. We looked at the options and decided that Amelia offered the lifestyle we desired. We started the quest to find the perfect place to settle. We spotted an interesting parcel of land and while walking the property, we found ourselves at the edge of a creek adjoining an 80 acre lake and felt we were in the middle of a wildlife sanctuary. Taking in the splendor, we looked up into a tree at the edge of the creek and saw a large pilliated woodpecker. Donna turned to me and said “Eureka, this is where I want to live!” The rest of the story encompasses the discovery of two springs on the property while we were building the road and house.
The area in and around Amelia County was blessed with many nutrients deposited by glaciers many years ago. This rich soil has supported farming for generations and enables Amelia to be currently listed as the 7th best producer of agriculture in the state. Our pastures are no exception; they provide our alpacas with abundant grasses to graze and enjoy.
Give us a call and come visit our farm and herd. We are delighted to share our thoughts and experience with you!
