About Grey Bell Alpaca Farm

Image is being processed by AN Grey Bell Alpaca Farm covers 10 acres near the Southeast Texas comunity of Rosharon - about 20 miles south of Houston. The brush and weeds have been cleared out and pastures planted. Fence building has progressed enough to provide homes for the alpacas, though there will be more work to do as we work on pasture rotation and subdividing the overall herd. Seeing the alpacas graze and rest in the shade of 100 year old pecan and oak trees is relaxing and enjoyable.
Thanks to hurricane Ike we have a few less trees but we, the alpacas, the house and barn suffered no damage. On Friday evening, as the storm approached and winds were blowing 40 or so miles per hours, the alpacas were all kushed in the pasture as though enjoying the breeze. It was not until it started to rain and got dark that they moved up into the barn. As it got light Saturday morning I could see them back outside munching on leaves and grass. They had lots of leaves to choose from - thankfully none overindulged to being sick.

"You can take the kid off the farm but you can never take the farm out of the kid." Bill grew up on an Idaho dairy farm. "I enjoyed the farm but never liked the constant demands of milking cows or the cold weather." Texas has given me excellent opportunities to prosper and now that retirement is here, I am looking forward to working with these charming animals.
City girl Sharon and the alpacas seem to have a special affinity. During herd health days, it has been said numerous times "How did you catch that so and so -I usually have to chase her all over the farm."
