9/5/2009: The 2009 crop is in, pretty good all told. The first cria was out of Kiri, a light fawn male who has to do it all "self" like a 2-year-old. He's not obnoxious about it, just don't offer help! This guy has very nice fleece, possible stud potential. Two days later Fur Elise presented us with a perfect clone of herself, in fact this fine little copper girl is even more perfect than Elise! I may mark this one NFS! Finally Mac produced a little black boy, very vigorous but definitely a fiber animal. He is very cute and MAc loves him dearly. The three of them are a blast to watch. I think this is the first time we have had a group of three cria and it is wonderful! |

I became aware of the alpaca industry through my activities as a handspinner. Quickly recruiting my family, we spent three years visitng farms, watching price trends, doing research and saving soda cans before finally making a purchase. Our herd now encompasses a dozen alpacas and we know a lot more than we did in 1996.
Why Armida Alpacas?
You can buy from a farm with 200 alpacas, and probably they know a lot about alpacas. You will be one of many customers, just as your alpaca was one of many. Buy from small farm and you and your alpaca are special. If you take home an Armida dam, you are buying twenty percent of my breeding stock! Rest assured, you will be treated accordingly!
I believe our experiences distill into:
QUALITY: We aim to produce alpacas in all colors, with high quality, commercially valuable fleeces. To this end we have added Fur Elise, granddaughter of Drambuie and Felix, to our foundation herd. This year she produced a superb Royal Fawn son for whom we have high hopes!
INTEGRITY: We are honest when it is convenient and when it is not. We do not take advantage of new breeders' innocence, and we make every effort to assure customer satisfaction.
