Dolce Vita Alpacas

We purchased our foundation herd during 2005 and named our farm Dolce Vita Alpacas, having every expectation that we had found “the sweet life.” We currently own eighteen alpacas including three crias born during the fall of '08.

We have incorporated quality bloodlines into our breeding program, some of which include Legacy; Rayo del Sol; Hemingway; Augusto; Mr. President; Snowmass Millenium; 6Peruvian Accoyo Thunder; Guellermo; PPPeruvian Bravado; Checkmate (Nic Nac, Accoyo Juliaca); El Moustachio; Grand Master; and Pachacuti. We're adding Titan's Clash (Accoyo Titan, PPPeruvian Dracula); Heritage (Accoyo Caligula, Snowmass Peruvian Gold); Royal Fawn; and others in current breedings.

As alpaca farmers, we are focusing on the crop of fleece our animals produce each year. We're having our raw fleece made into yarn, mixing colors and adding Tussah silk to produce luxurious roving and yarn. We've also discovered the absolute joy of felting, both wet and needle felting. We are making hats and purses from our own alpacas' fleece. Our goal is to eventually offer custom made sweaters and other knitted/woven products made from our own alpacas’ fleece.
