It was sunny today and I took a break to sit in the field with the moms and babies. I watched as our crias raced from one end of the field to the other, while moms contentedly grazed on the grass. The sun was warm and I decided to lie down and just listen to the alpacas munching. Needless to say, it was so relaxing, I fell asleep and when I woke up, I was surrounded by the moms and babies. They were taking a nap, too!
Welcome to our small farm nestled in picturesque Silvana, Washington, where we raise beautiful Huacaya alpacas. We plan to stay small so we can continue the day-to-day interaction with each of our “girls” and “boys”. It's easy to find us; we're just one hour north of Seattle. Come for a visit, meet our alpacas, and you'll begin to understand why we made this wonderful and exciting life change.
Not only have alpacas brought joy and contentment into my life, they also brought new friends. For the past 4 years, I have been caregiver to the herd owned by Alise and John Schmitt of Genesis Alpacas. Because Alise lives nearby, we are able to work together doing herd health, training, farm visits, breeding and birthing. With mini-vans loaded with dams and crias, we have caravanned across Washington State taking females for breeding “dates”. Shearing time is a family affair with sons, daughters, grandchildren and spouses helping out.
We breed for: • healthy, vigorous alpacas with calm dispositions; • males that have a strong libido and early maturity; • females that are easy birthers, heavy milk producers and protective mothers; • Fine fleece, long staple length and heavy shear weights; • Good conformation and heavy bone.

We are fortunate to have several camelid veterinarians in our area, all within 30 minutes of our farm. Our expert care is provided by Northwest Veterinary Clinic whose camelid specialists have taken care of many of the small farms in this area as well as one of the largest alpaca farms in Washington State.
Mentoring is a very important part of what we do. We feel it is our responsibility to educate and help new owners so they have the opportunity to be successful. We provide “hands-on” learning experiences and encourage you to spend time with us learning to halter your alpaca, trimming toenails and giving injections. We are available to answer your questions – before you purchase an animal and after – even if you didn’t purchase from our farm. And, if you don’t find just what you are looking for in our herd of beautiful alpacas, we’ll assist you in your search.
I love my alpacas and the life I have with them. Come for a visit; let me show you around the farm and introduce you to our boys and girls. I’m sure you will fall in love with them, just as I did. |

I have resolved from this day on,
I will do all the business I can honestly,
have all the fun I can reasonably,
do all the good I can do willingly,
and save my digestion by thinking pleasantly."
