Hall & Oaks Ranch, owned and operated by Christine and Mark Hall is situated 2500 feet above sea level on top of the gorgeous Santa Rosa Plateau in Murrieta, California –a short drive north of the San Diego county line. The elevation combined with the proximity of the Pacific Ocean moderates the otherwise hot dry Southern California climate. The park like setting with it’s ancient oaks , lush pastures, and mature vegetation provide an excellent location to raise our alpacas.
We have taken a deliberate approach to slow-growing our business, aiming toward a successful yet smaller huacaya farm . We purchased our first bred alpaca along with a companion alpaca in December of 2005. Currently our herd is at 8 Alpacas with 3 Crias on the way and 2 guard llamas. Oh, we also have 3 horses, 2 donkeys and 6 dogs adding to the fun!
Our ‘Ranch Rule #1’ is commitment to investing in and breeding high quality VS. quantity. Correct confirmation, excellent fleece and champion bloodlines are premium alpaca basics.
Our ‘Ranch Rule #2’ is our desire to provide an additional specialty service designed to help new alpaca start ups. For people like me who are beginning their business while still maintaining their current job, it can be difficult to get operable as fast as you’d like. We liked the idea of a supplemental business to better afford an earlier retirement, while taking advantage of the immediate tax benefits. And what’s not to love about those alpaca’s? We're organizing our own comprehensive start-up checklist which includes "how-to's and better not's" to really getting yourself started. We look forward to sharing our information with any serious new alpaca entrepreneur in hopes it may help you participate in the alpaca industry's "fun stuff" that much sooner!
Please feel free to give us a call, we'd love to have you visit our ranch! |
