About Indian Springs Farms, LLC

Image is being processed by AN"How much does an alpaca cost?" Well how much does a car cost? It depends on a lot of factors. The reality is you usually get what you pay for. You might find cheaper animals than mine, but are they 18 years old, cross eyed, bucked tooth, and have fiber you can't produce into yarn? Again, you usually get what you pay for. Females will generally cost more than males, but males produce better (and more) fiber. So if you are interested in fiber - you probably want males. If you want to dye fiber, then you want white animals. If you want a novelty animal, then color is not as important. I believe alpacas fall into three categories: 1)Pet/Novelty; 2)Fiber; and 3)Show Animals. I have divided my pricing into those three categories Pet/Novelty alpacas (males) on my farm are $1,000. Fiber males (which produce really good fiber and can still be used for breeding) are $1,500. My male Show Animals (a.k.a. Herd sires) are $8,000. These are high quality males producing high quality fiber and crias. My female alpacas cost $4,000 if they are 'open'(not pregnant) and $5,000 if they are bred. Of course you can have any female bred to one of my herd sires before she leaves the farm. By the way, I can deliver any alpaca purchased. So there is my answer to "how much does an alpaca cost?" Of course there is a lot more to know, so call me or plan a farm visit and we can talk more. I can talk alpacas all day (and often do). In addition to sales, I also offer breeding, boarding and shearing services. I shear about 1,000 alpacas each spring for other farms, so I feel I have a lot of knowledge about alpacas, farm layouts, and fiber. I am more than happy to spend time with you answering questions and sharing what I know. The more you know, the better purchase you can make. So be a knowledgeable consumer and don't get suckered by just a low price. Like I said: you usually get what you pay for. With that said, there are good deals out there and I think I have some of them.

My 8 acre farm is located 7 miles southeast of downtown Waynesville, NC in a small community called Bethel. Bethel is also 25 miles West of Asheville, NC and 15 minutes off I40. I am in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains near the base of Cold Mountain, close to fishing, mountain biking, hiking, white water rafting, skiing and spelunking. It is a wonderful place to live or visit.

Look for me at Alpaca and fiber shows in the Southeast! Hope to catch up with you soon.
Sincerely,
Joe
